Barpeta, 01 August (HS): The Chief Minister's Anti-Corruption Branch on Friday raided the office premises of the Circle Officer in Barpeta and caught a lot mandal red-handed while accepting a bribe.

The arrested official has been identified as Anuwar Hussain.

According to sources, Hussain had allegedly demanded ₹20,000 from Abdul Baten, a resident of Khablarbhitha village in the Kayakuchi area of Barpeta district, for processing a land-related matter.

Following a complaint lodged by Baten with the CM’s special anti-corruption wing, a trap was laid, and Hussain was apprehended while accepting the first installment of ₹3,500 near the canteen area.

A case has been registered against him, and he has been taken into custody.
