Bhubaneswar, 1 August (H.S.) The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast continued rainfall across Odisha on Friday, prompting the issuance of a yellow warning for 20 districts. The alert includes warnings for moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds.
The districts under yellow alert include Ganjam, Gajapati, Nayagarh, Khordha, Puri, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Angul, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, and Bargarh
According to the IMD bulletin, isolated places in these districts are likely to experience thunderstorms with lightning and surface wind speeds of 30–40 kmph.
The department has advised residents, particularly in low-lying and lightning-prone areas, to remain alert and take precautionary measures to avoid weather-related hazards.
In Bhubaneswar and adjoining regions, the sky is expected to remain partly cloudy, with chances of moderate rain or thundershowers. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to hover around 34°C and 27°C respectively.
