Bhubaneswar, 1 August (H.S.): In a decisive move to enforce workplace discipline, Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) Commissioner Kirandeep Kaur Sahota has issued show-cause notices to 31 employees for reporting late to duty. The action, which includes a notice to Joint Commissioner Barendra Mohanty (OAS), was taken just days after Sahota assumed office on July 23.

The Commissioner expressed strong dissatisfaction over the habitual tardiness among civic staff and warned that failure to provide a satisfactory explanation within 24 hours may result in disciplinary action, including withholding of salaries.

The list of employees served with notices spans various departments and designations, including senior and junior assistants, computer assistants, fee collectors, peons, sweepers, and electric helpers.

The notice issued by the Commissioner states that punctuality is critical to efficient civic functioning and any lapse in discipline will be dealt with strictly. Sahota reiterated that negligence of duty would not be tolerated under any circumstances.
