New Delhi, July 9 (H.S.): The National Investigation Agency (NIA) submitted a supplementary charge sheet against Tahawwur Rana in the Patiala House Court, where his judicial custody was extended until August 13 by Special Judge Chanderjit Singh. Rana, involved in the 2008 Mumbai terrorist attacks, had his custody set to expire but appeared via video conferencing.
The FBI arrested him in Chicago in October 2009, and he was extradited to India on April 10, landing at Palam Air Force Station. The NIA detained him immediately upon arrival. His custody was first set until June 6 and extended thereafter. Voice and handwriting samples were collected on May 3. A Canadian citizen of Pakistani descent, Rana is closely linked to David Coleman Headley, another key conspirator in the attacks, with whom he shares a childhood friendship and academic background, facilitating Headley's activities in India.
