Kolkata, 8 July (H.S.) -
The body of an unidentified youth was recovered from a canal near a posh residential complex in Anandapur, Kolkata on Tuesday, raising suspicions of possible foul play. The police have launched a full-scale investigation and are examining all possible angles, including homicide.
According to officials, the body was discovered in the morning adjacent to a high-end housing society. Preliminary inquiries have not yet established the identity of the deceased.
“We are probing the case from every angle. At this stage, the possibility of murder cannot be ruled out,” said a senior police officer involved in the investigation. “We are also trying to determine whether the murder took place elsewhere and the body was dumped in the canal.”
The body has been sent for post-mortem examination, which is expected to shed light on the exact cause of death. For now, the police have registered a case of unnatural death and are awaiting forensic findings to proceed further.
Investigators are also examining the surrounding area closely for any clues, eyewitnesses, or CCTV footage that could assist in reconstructing the events leading to the man’s death.
Police officials said more details would emerge once the autopsy report is received, which will help confirm whether the case involves homicide or accidental death.
