Kolkata, 8 July (H.S.): West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday appealed to citizens to drive responsibly and adhere to traffic rules, marking the observance of ‘Safe Drive, Save Life Day’—a road safety awareness initiative launched by the state government.

In a post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Banerjee wrote, “Today we observe ‘Safe Drive, Save Life Day,’ an initiative launched to raise awareness about road safety, promote responsible driving habits, and ensure safer roads for all.”

She further urged people to take a pledge to drive responsibly, follow traffic regulations, and contribute to making roads safer for everyone. “Buckle up! Drive safely,” she added.

The ‘Safe Drive, Save Life’ campaign, initiated by the West Bengal government, has been a significant effort in recent years to reduce road accidents across the state. The initiative focuses not only on enforcing traffic rules but also on spreading public awareness about their importance in ensuring road safety.
