Chennai, 6 July (H.S.): A 38-year-old woman working at a corrugated box manufacturing unit in Enathur, Kancheepuram district, was discovered dead with severe head injuries at her workplace on Saturday night. The victim has been identified as S Selvi.

Preliminary police investigations suggest that Selvi was murdered for her jewelry, which her family reported missing. Selvi's husband and other family members initiated a search for her after she failed to return home from work. Their search led them to the manufacturing unit, where they tragically found her body amidst scrap materials.

Following the grim discovery, authorities have detained the unit's employer, Praveen Kumar, and another staff member for questioning. Additionally, police are actively searching for a man who was found in an inebriated state outside the manufacturing unit, as he is considered a person of interest in the ongoing investigation.
