Murshidabad, 6 July (H.S.): In a shocking incident on Saturday night, a man allegedly killed his own mother over a property dispute at Kasimnagar village under Suti police station limits of West Bengal's Murshidabad district.

According to police, the deceased has been identified as 70-year-old Armani Bibi.

As per police and family sources, Manglu had been pressurising his mother for a long time to transfer a portion of her land in his name. Recently, Armani Bibi received money under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), which Manglu allegedly kept in his possession. However, when Armani Bibi gave a share of her land to her daughter instead of him. Manglu got angry.

On Saturday night, after dinner, when Armani Bibi was asleep at home, Manglu allegedly entered the house and attacked her with a brick, hitting her multiple times. Hearing her screams, neighbors and other family members rushed to the spot immediately took her to the hospital, where doctors declared her dead.

After committing the murder, Manglu fled the scene. The police have registered a case initiated an investigation into the matter.
