Delhi, 6 July (H.S.): Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Brazil for a four-day visit, participating in the 17th BRICS Summit and a state visit at the invitation of Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva after concluding his 'Productive' Visit to Argentina. This is Modi’s fourth visit to Brazil and 12th participation in a BRICS Summit.PM Modi was accorded a ceremonial welcome upon his arrival at the Galeao International Airport on Saturday (local time) evening.

PM Narendra Modi praised the Indian community in Brazil for their warm welcome in Rio de Janeiro upon arrival, highlighting their strong connection to Indian culture and enthusiasm for India's development, sharing glimpses of the reception.

People of the Indian diaspora perform a cultural dance based on the theme of Operation Sindoor as they welcome PM Modi.

In a X post, the Prime Minister said;Members of Brazil’s Indian community gave a very vibrant welcome in Rio de Janeiro. It’s amazing how they remain connected with Indian culture and are also very passionate about India’s development! Here are some glimpses from the welcome.

Earlier, PM Modi posted on X: “Landed in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where I will participate in the BRICS Summit and then head to its capital, Brasília, for a State visit at the invitation of President Lula. Looking forward to a productive round of meetings and interactions during this visit.”

At the 17th BRICS Leaders' Summit, he will address critical global issues such as peace, security, multilateralism, artificial intelligence, climate action, health, and economic matters. Additionally, PM Modi is expected to engage in bilateral meetings during the Summit. In Brasília, he will discuss expanding the Strategic Partnership with President Lula, focusing on trade, defence, energy, space, technology, agriculture, health, and people-to-people connections.

Before Brazil, Modi's tour included Ghana, Trinidad and Tobago, and Argentina, the latter being the first bilateral visit by an Indian Prime Minister in 57 years. Following Brazil, the final stop of his five-nation trip will be Namibia on July 9 to address its parliament.
