South 24 Parganas, 6 July (H.S.): A woman’s mysterious death in the South Jagattala area of Ward No. 29 under the Maheshtala Municipality in South 24 Parganas district has raised serious concerns. The deceased has been identified as 34-year-old Shilpi Bibi, who worked as a nurse.
As per information, Shilpi Bibi’s husband, Sheikh Nasir Ali, had gone out to observe Muharram rituals. When he didn’t return home late at night, Shilpi left the house around 2:00 AM on Sunday to look for him.
At around 2:30 AM, Sheikh Nasir received a phone call informing him that his wife was found lying unconscious behind a house in a nearby alley. He immediately informed Maheshtala Police Station. The police reached the spot and rushed Shilpi to Behala Vidyasagar Hospital, where doctors declared her dead.
Sheikh Nasir alleged that his wife was murdered. He claimed that when he found her, there was a scarf tightly wrapped around her neck.
The police have taken one person from the house, in front of which the body was discovered, into custody for questioning.
Maheshtala Police have registered a case and begun a thorough investigation.
