Guwahati, 6 July (HS): Rukminigaon flyover, built with the aim of reducing the problem of traffic jam in the capital Guwahati, will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday. Built at a cost of about ₹111 crore, this flyover is one of the important projects completed rapidly in Guwahati.

This flyover is about 650 meters long and will serve as an important connectivity point between Dispur and Sixmile. Heavy traffic is seen on this route especially during office hours, causing trouble to thousands of passengers daily. The new flyover is expected to reduce this pressure drastically.

It is worth noting that the construction work of the flyover started in October 2024 and was completed in just 9 months. According to sources, the construction cost under the original contract was ₹88 crore, the remaining amount was spent on finishing and other related works.

According to the civic administration, this flyover will improve traffic congestion not only at Rukminigaon but also on the main roads from Ganeshguri to Beltala.

The chief minister also announced that the two flyovers being constructed at Rukminigaon and Supermarket will be named Bhagadatta-1 and Bhagadatta-2 respectively after the king of ancient Kamarupa Bhagadatta. --------
