Hooghly, 4 July (H.S.) In a shocking development in the mysterious death of a couple in Baidyabati, Hooghly, the police have arrested two accused from Howrah. On Friday, both were produced before the Serampore Sub-Divisional Court.

The blood-soaked bodies of Manoj Bhaduri (35) and Aparna Majhi (32) were discovered early Thursday morning in their rented room at Sitaram Bagan area in Ward No. 18 of Baidyabati Municipality, . The couple had been living there for the past six years. Aparna had left her first husband and was in a live-in relationship with Manoj.

Police investigation revealed that Aparna’s younger sister Rimpa met Arjun Paswan, a driver from the Chamrail area of Howrah, at a bar. They soon developed an intimate relationship, leading Rimpa to leave her husband and start living with Arjun. Aparna arranged jobs for both of them in Telangana, but they returned after a short period. After that Rimpa developed relationship with another man. When Arjun came to know about Rimpa's relationship with another man, he quarrelled with her. Aparna asked Arjun not to disturb her sister anymore.

Just three days before the incident, Arjun had visited Aparna’s house and allegedly threatened her. Aparna slapped him publicly. According to police it became the trigger for Arjun to plan a revenge.

On the night of the incident, Arjun reportedly purchased a knife from Sealdah and travelled to Baidyabati. He stayed hidden in the area overnight and, in the early hours, entered Aparna’s room and attacked both Aparna and Manoj while they were asleep. After brutally stabbing them multiple times, he fled the scene.

Around 3:00 AM, neighbors reportedly heard screams for help and alerted the police. The local police arrived promptly and launched an investigation.

Based on information obtained from Aparna’s mother and sister, the police identified Arjun and his brother-in-law Nasiruddin Sheikh as suspects. Two separate police teams were formed. One was sent to Chamrail and the other to Maheshtala. With the assistance of local police, both accused were arrested.
