Chennai, 4 July (H.S.) : A group of five Tamil Nadu fishermen, who were recently released from a Sri Lankan prison, arrived in Chennai today. The fishermen had been detained by the Sri Lankan Navy for allegedly crossing the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL) while fishing in the Palk Strait.
After spending a considerable amount of time in jail, the fishermen were finally released and handed over to the Indian government. Their release was facilitated through diplomatic efforts between the Indian and Sri Lankan governments. The fishermen's families had been anxiously waiting for their return, and their release has brought relief to their loved ones.
Upon arrival in Chennai, the fishermen were welcomed by officials and their family members. They were provided with necessary assistance and support by the state government. The fishermen are expected to undergo a medical examination and counseling before returning to their normal lives.
The release of the fishermen is seen as a positive development in the ongoing efforts to resolve the issue of fishermen from Tamil Nadu being detained by the Sri Lankan authorities. The state government has been working tirelessly to secure the release of the fishermen and ensure their safe return.
