Lucknow,
04 July (HS): Chief Minister Yogi inaugurated the three-day 'Uttar Pradesh
Mango Festival 2025' at Avadh Shilp Gram, Avadh Vihar Yojana, Sector 9,
Lucknow. In this festival, the exhibition of more than 800 varieties of mangoes
selected from gardens across the country attracted everyone's attention.
Addressing the program, Chief Minister Yogi said that our gardeners have
performed brilliantly using technology despite the challenges of climate change
and global warming. It is surprising to see the varieties of two and a half to
three kilos of mangoes, which are not only unmatched in taste, but are also
increasing the pride of Uttar Pradesh in the global market.
Chief
Minister Yogi Adityanath said that the Mango Festival is not only a means of
increasing the income of farmers, but is also a concrete effort towards
realizing Prime Minister Modi's vision of self-reliant India and developed
India. He said that four modern pack houses have been established in Lucknow,
Amroha, Saharanpur and Varanasi to take mango production to the global level.
Through these pack houses; information about the quality, variety and export
standards of mango is given to the farmers. Chief Minister Yogi said that the
Mango Festival not only promotes mango production and export, but is also a
means of instilling confidence in gardeners towards horticultural crops, modern
technology and global markets.
Uttar
Pradesh's mangoes dominate the global market: Yogi stressed that the double
engine policy of the double engine government has increased the export of
horticultural crops manifold. During this festival, air cargo of mangoes was
dispatched to two countries, in which the subsidy given by the government
helped the gardeners to get better prices. The Chief Minister inspected all the
stalls in the festival and inquired about varieties like Lucknow's Dussehri,
Varanasi's Langra, Gorakhpur's Gavarjit, Basti's Amrapali, Meerut and Baghpat's
Ratol. Appreciating the hard work of the gardeners, he said that their hard
work and technical innovation has made Uttar Pradesh a hub of horticultural
crops. The Yogi government has provided subsidy, training and market facilities
to encourage the gardeners, which has increased their income manifold.
Chief
Minister Yogi said that at one time the contribution of agriculture and
horticultural crops in the GDP of Uttar Pradesh was 25-30 percent. Today the
policies of the government have further strengthened this sector. The
government has promoted modern technology through the establishment of Krishi
Vigyan Kendras and Centers of Excellence. The use of new seeds and techniques
in sugarcane, maize and horticultural crops is increasing the income of
farmers. He said that while planting 5 crore saplings was a challenge in 2017,
now on July 9, 2025, 50 crore saplings will be planted under the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke
Naam' campaign. This shows the progress of Uttar Pradesh and its commitment
towards the environment.
CM
Yogi suggested that such events should be organized at the commissionerate
level as well, so that local gardeners can exhibit and sell their crops. He
called upon the gardeners to adopt food processing with turmeric, ginger and
other horticultural crops, so that their income can be further increased. This festival
will prove to be a great platform to take the gardeners, farmers and the
progress of Uttar Pradesh to the global stage.
The
Chief Minister honoured progressive gardeners and exporters by giving them a
certificate and a plant. He also released the souvenir of the festival. On this
