There is a sense of fear among villagers amid raging floods

Aurraiya, 31 July

(HS): The flood scenario at Panchnad Dham

Tirtha Kshetra Mahasangam has remained the same. The water level of the Yamuna, Chambal,

Sindh, Pahuj, and Kunwari rivers is around 2 meters over the danger mark. A

warning has been issued that the water level will increase more in the coming

hours. There is a sense of fear in the embankment regions, since many villages

have lost touch with the district headquarters and travel routes have been

shut.

Administrative authorities from the three

districts, Etawah, Auraiya, and Jalaun, are continually visiting the affected

regions and monitoring the situation. Temporary shelters are being built in

Panchayat houses as floodwater has entered the villages of Juhikha, Gunj,

Fariha and Aasta. The administration is making arrangements for everything from

electricity to relief material.

Floods in the same

area 3 years ago also caused widespread devastation. Looking at the current

situation, officials have said that all possible steps are being taken to

reduce the impact of floods and ensure the safety of people.
