Moreh (Manipur), 31 July (HS): A major tragedy was averted after security personnel successfully neutralized an improvised explosive device (IED) found near the Tamil Sangam area at Sunrise Ground in Moreh town, located in Tengnoupal district, Manipur police PRO informed on Thursday.

The device was detected during a routine patrol, prompting immediate deployment of bomb disposal experts. Without delay, the team acted swiftly and safely defused the IED on-site, preventing any damage or injury.

The operation was carried out in accordance with standard operating procedures, ensuring the safety of residents in the area. Officials confirmed that no casualties or property loss occurred in the incident.

An investigation has been launched to trace the source of the explosive and assess any possible links to militant groups. Meanwhile, security has been tightened in and around Moreh as a precautionary measure.

The situation remains stable, with forces maintaining strict vigilance in the border town.
