Cong leaders hand over cheques to 30 children of Pak-firing victims


Poonch, 31 July (H.S.): On the directions of Leader of Opposition Lok Sabha and former Congress president Rahul Gandhi, JKPCC chief Tariq Hameed Karra and National president of Indian Youth Congress Udey Bhanu Chib today handed over cheques of financial/educational aid to 30 children of war martyrs in Poonch.

Senior party leaders Raman Bhalla (working president), AICC secretary Shah Nawaz Chaudhary, former Chairman Legislative Council Jahangir Mir, Sain Abdul Rasheed, DDC, District president Poonch Rajinder Singh Kaka, IYC secretary Ajaz Chaudhary, Taj Hussain Mir PYC vice president Fiaz Ahmed and general secretary Anirudh Sawhney were also present.

In a simple function in Poonch attended by the affected children and their relatives besides prominent Congress and Youth Congress leaders, they were handed over the cheques of financial aid in order to sustain their lives especially carrying on their education. These children of eight families lost their parents and bread earner in the Pakistan shelling during `Operation Sindoor’ in which 13 persons lost lives and 28 others injured.

JKPCC chief Tariq Hameed Karra told reporters that LoP Rahul Gandhi during his visit to Poonch to meet victims of Pakistan shelling also visited a school and met the children. He desired the finding out of most deserving children to be provided financial aid to carry on their studies.

As a result the IYC started this exercise to shortlist the most deserving children left orphan and lost their bread earner and offered financial aid to them.

He appreciated the IYC led by Udey Bhanu Chib for taking up this pious initiative to help the most deserving children who lost parents in the service of nation. Nothing can be more pious than this cause.

IYC chief Udey Chib said on the occasion that the IYC was inspired by LoP Rahul Gandhi to undertake this most deserving cause of service and extending helping hand to the victims of war. He said that these children shall be able to continue their studies against the worst situation caused by Pakistan shelling. More organizations and affluent members of society should come forward in such situations adding that there is no dearth of kind people who support the suffering people in need.
