New Delhi, July 30 (H.S.): The NISAR satellite, developed by ISRO and NASA, is set for launch from Sriharikota at 5:40 PM today via the GSLV-F16. Positioned at 740 kilometers in a sun-synchronous polar orbit, NISAR is an advanced radar satellite equipped to capture Earth images continuously, regardless of weather conditions.
ISRO confirmed the launch preparations and countdown on social media, with a live broadcast planned.
Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh will attend the event in the CSIR hall to witness the launch.
NISAR’s key function is to monitor the Earth, focusing on natural disasters like floods and glaciers, while also facilitating surveillance in geopolitically sensitive regions. The satellite aims to enhance disaster management, landslide monitoring, and address climate change issues.
