Cachar (Assam), 39 July (HS): A sanitation worker lost his life after falling into a river while crossing a bamboo bridge in Cachar district's Sonai South Mohanpur area.

The deceased has been identified as Mitul Das, who was employed with the Sonai Municipality. The incident took place on Monday night near Sonai Amjoor, where a bamboo bridge spans the river. While crossing the bridge, Das reportedly slipped and fell into the river.

Local residents immediately launched a search operation, and after nearly two hours, they managed to recover his body. On receiving information, police reached the spot, took custody of the body, and sent it for postmortem.
