Delhi, 30 July (H.S.): In Rajya Sabha, intense protests erupted as Home Minister Amit Shah commenced his address on Wednesday, with Opposition MPs vocally demanding Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s presence. As Shah began speaking, he faced disruptions, particularly from Leader of Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge, who criticized the government for not preventing terrorism. Shah responded by asserting that previous administrations had failed to take necessary action against terrorism, accusing the Opposition of inaction.

During the discussion on Operation Sindoor, the Opposition staged a walkout, voicing discontent over the absence of the Prime Minister. Shah, while continuing his speech, emphasized that the BJP would reclaim Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir, countering claims that nothing was done to combat terrorism. He provided details of Operation Mahadev, revealing that terrorists linked to the Pahalgam attack were subsequently killed, reinforcing that three confirmed members of Lashkar-e-Taiba had been neutralized.

Shah shared emotional accounts of victims' families who expressed a desire for justice, after which he vowed that Kashmir would be liberated from terrorism. The anonymous bullet casings found at the encounter site matched the ones used in the Pahalgam attack, bolstering the government’s narrative of a decisive response to terrorism.

Despite the distractions from the Congress party's protests, Shah maintained focus and leveraged the opportunity to critique their historical surrender of territory. He stated, “The Congress gave away Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir to Pakistan, but the BJP govt will get it back,” reinforcing the current government’s commitment against terrorism.

Kharge's concerns highlighted that the Prime Minister's absence was disrespectful, particularly after extensive discussions on issues directly relating to Modi. Shah responded by asserting that it was predetermined who would speak on behalf of the government.

Discussing recent military successes, Shah announced the completion of Operation Mahadev, which targeted and destroyed a primary Lashkar-e-Taiba base while neutralizing terrorists responsible for attacks. He also expressed disdain towards P. Chidambaram's questioning of his authority on the operation, suggesting a disloyalty to national interests.

In a broader narrative, Shah emphasized the government's hardline stance on terrorism, pointing out that under the BJP regime, several terrorist organizations have been banned. He challenged the Congress, asserting their past failures to effectively manage terrorists, contrasting it with the current administration's commitment to eradicate terrorism entirely.

Amit Shah proudly declared that “Hindus can never be terrorists,” amid a stance that positioned terrorism as nearing annihilation under Modi’s governance. He also highlighted the significant national development during Modi's tenure, including the abrogation of Article 370, criminalization of Triple Talaq, and the consecration of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.

As discussions wrapped up, Rajya Sabha was adjourned for the day, concluding a tumultuous session marked by a clash between the government and the Opposition over crucial national issues and the ongoing challenge of terrorism in India.
