Nagpur, 03 July (HS):
In a major crackdown against human trafficking, the Social Security Branch of
the Crime Branch, Nagpur Police, conducted a raid at Hotel Paradise located on
Central Avenue under the jurisdiction of the Tehsil Police Station in Nagpur. The
operation, carried out between 5:30 PM on July 2 and 1:55 AM on July 3, led to
the rescue of a woman of Russian origin, who was allegedly being forced into
prostitution.
Based on reliable
information, the police registered a case under Sections 143(2)(3) of the
Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) along with Sections 3, 4, and 5 of the Prevention
of Immoral Traffic Act (PITA), 1956..
During the
action, one accused, identified as Rashmi Anand Khatri (49), was apprehended.
Another accused, Krishnakumar alias Radhe Deshraj, has been named in the case
and is currently absconding.
The police
seized incriminating material, including one DVR worth Rs 3,000, a packet of
condoms worth Rs 10, Rs 5,500 cash, two mobile phones valued at Rs 15,000 each,
and a register worth Rs 500. The total value of seized materials amounts to
₹39,010.
Following the rescue,
the Russian woman was medically examined and later handed over to the Tehsil Police
along with all related documents and seized property for further investigation.
The arrested woman was served a notice and released as per legal procedure.
