Lucknow,
03 July (HS): The Uttar Pradesh Cabinet accepted a proposal on Wednesday to
establish the UP Rozgar Mission to assist the state's youth in finding work in
India or overseas. Anil Rajbhar, the state's labour and employment minister,
told reporters following the meeting that the mission will allow the state to
avoid third-party recruiting companies.
With
the development of this mission, we established a clear goal. We intend to send 25,000 to 30,000 jobless youths
overseas and engage approximately one lakh youth in India's private sector each
year, according to Rajbhar. Previously, Rajbhar claimed that the state
government had to rely on external entities having RA (recruitment licenses) to
transfer personnel overseas.
Now
that the mission is in place, the state will receive its own RA, allowing us to
directly organize abroad placements, particularly in high-demand areas such as
nursing, paramedical, skilled labour, driving, domestic work, and other
manpower-intensive positions, he added.
Rajbhar
stated that the mission was made necessary by a growing worldwide need for
Indian labour.
On
Thursday, the cabinet also approved changes to labor legislation that would
expand women's involvement in manufacturing employment. Until recently, women
were forbidden from working in 29 dangerous sectors. The administration relaxed
limitations on four such sectors in December of last year.
Currently,
just 5% of industries in the state employ women, and excluding Noida, the
percentage lowers to about 1%. With
technological improvements and our purpose of empowering women, Rajbhar stated
that it was vital to alter these obsolete conventions.
The
minister stated that the adjustments will help the state achieve its greater
goal of becoming a $1 trillion economy. He described the day's choices as a
significant milestone towards economic development and social empowerment in
Uttar Pradesh.
