A junior female doctor at Bardwan Medical College and Hospital has filed a formal complaint alleging that a fellow intern sexually harassed her within the hospital premises. The incident reportedly took place in the operation theatre on Tuesday.
According to the complaint, which was submitted in writing to the college principal, Ma'am Mousumi Bandyopadhyay, the victim claims that the intern engaged in indecent behavior during the procedure. Following the grievance, the medical college administration promptly informed the Gender Harassment Cell to initiate an investigation into the matter.
In response, the college principal announced that an internal meeting had been convened on Friday to discuss the case in detail and to decide on further action. Meanwhile, the intern against whom the allegations have been made has denied all charges, asserting that the claims are false and aimed at tarnishing his reputation.
Hospital officials have stressed that the issue is being treated with utmost seriousness, and an impartial investigation is underway based on the report from the Gender Harassment Cell. This incident has surfaced amidst widespread concerns related to harassment cases, prompting the administration to adopt a stringent approach in handling such allegations.
The investigation continues as the authorities seek to ascertain the facts surrounding the incident and take appropriate measures based on the findings.
