Lucknow,
03 July (HS): The Uttar Pradesh government accepted a proposal on Thursday to
provide the Union Ministry of Home Affairs a 99-year lease on eight acres of
land near Ayodhya to create a National Security Guard (NSG) base. The move,
made at a cabinet meeting headed by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, aims to
bolster security in the temple town and adjacent critical establishments. Given
the increased security requirements of Ayodhya and neighbouring sensitive
establishments, the district administration suggested leasing eight acres of
land to the Union Ministry of Home Affairs for the purpose of establishing an
NSG hub, according to UP Finance Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna.
The
land in the Gaura Barik Cantonment region of Ayodhya Sadar tehsil would be
transferred free of charge with some limitations as a one-time exemption that
will not be used as a precedent in the future, he stated. This measure
demonstrates the state government's commitment to providing a strong security
infrastructure in Ayodhya, Khanna said.
The
land's position is said to be strategically important for deploying and
operating elite NSG commandos in the event of a danger. The center has the
potential to dramatically improve the region's quick response capabilities, as
it is frequented by devotees from India and throughout the world for its
temples, according to an official involved in the subject.
