Hooghly, 3 July (H.S.) Blood-soaked bodies of a couple were recovered from home in Baidyabati area of Hooghly district on Thursday morning.
According to local residents, around 3 a.m. on Thursday, loud screams were heard from a house in the Sitaram Bagan area under Ward No. 18. When neighbors rushed to the spot, they found a man lying inside the house and a woman outside, in a pool of blood.
Serampore Police Station was immediately informed. The police reached the spot and rushed the victims to the Walsh Super Specialty Hospital in Serampore, where doctors declared them brought dead.
The deceased have been identified as Manish Bhaduri (35) and Aparna Majhi (32). The couple had been living together in the same house for the past three years. Manish worked at a casting factory, while Aparna was employed as a domestic help. According to neighbors, they both left for work in the morning and returned home at night.
Senior officials from the Chandannagar Police Commissionerate, including DCP (Serampore) Arnab Biswas, ACP Subhankar Biswas, and the officer-in-charge of Serampore Police Station, reached the spot and initiated an investigation.
The police are examining CCTV footage from the surrounding area to gather clues. As of now, it remains unclear whether the deaths were a result of murder or suicide.
