New Delhi, July 29 (H.S): The U.S. team is set to arrive in India on August 25 for negotiations regarding a proposed bilateral trade agreement. A key focus is to remove a 26% tariff and ease tariffs on steel, aluminum, and automobile sectors. Previous talks in Washington included India's chief negotiator Rajesh Aggarwal and U.S. Deputy Trade Representative Brendan Lynch.
Both parties aim to finalize an interim trade agreement by the August 1 deadline, though India remains firm against tariff concessions on agricultural and dairy products, a point actively pursued by the U.S. Farmer organizations in India support this stance. Both nations hope to complete the first phase of the trade agreement by September-October. U.S. exports to India surged by 22.8%, reaching $25.51 billion in April-June, signaling a robust trade relationship.
