New Delhi, July 29(HS): The domestic stock market rebounded today after a three-day decline, with a strong close driven by robust buying, particularly in the healthcare, oil and gas, and automobile sectors. Initially, the market faced weakness, particularly during the first session, where selling pressure led to fluctuations. However, after noon, buying activity surged, enabling the Sensex to recover from lower levels, closing up 0.55 percent, and the Nifty up 0.57 percent.

The broader market also showed notable strength, with the BSE midcap index rising by 0.84 percent and the small-cap index increasing by 1.10 percent. Today's market performance resulted in a notable increase of over ₹3.5 lakh crore in investor wealth, with the total market capitalization reaching ₹451.50 lakh crore, up from ₹447.87 lakh crore the previous day—yielding a profit of approximately ₹3.63 lakh crore.

In terms of trading volume, 4,157 shares were active on the BSE, with 2,482 gaining, 1,521 declining, and 154 remaining unchanged. The NSE saw 2,660 shares in action, with 1,744 gaining and 916 losing. Among the Sensex's 30 shares, 19 closed higher while 11 closed lower; similarly, of the Nifty’s 50 shares, 36 made gains and 14 declined.

The trading opened with the Sensex at 80,620.25 points, down 270.77 points. Initial fluctuations saw the index drop to 80,575.45 points before a buying resurgence pushed it up over 850 points, ultimately closing at 81,337.95 points, gaining 446.93 points. The Nifty opened at 24,609.65 points, down 71.25 points, but after a struggle between buyers and sellers, it rebounded to close at 24,821.10 points with a gain of 140.20 points.

Notable top gainers today included Jio Financial up by 4.47%, Larsen & Toubro 2.14%, and Reliance Industries 2.13%. Conversely, SBI Life Insurance, Axis Bank, TCS, HDFC Life, and Titan Company were the top losers, experiencing declines between 0.41% and 0.92%.
