Eighteen Kanwariyas died, and ten others were injured in a road accident near Jamuniya village in Jharkhand's Deoghar district during the Shravani Mela. The tragic event occurred in Mohanpur block, where a bus carrying 35 devotees was struck head-on by a truck transporting gas cylinders while en route to Baba Baidyanath Dham. Eyewitnesses described a horrifying scene, with the bus torn apart and screams filling the air. Emergency services, including police and the NDRF, responded to rescue the injured and recover bodies, with some casualties in critical condition. Authorities are verifying victim identities, and investigations into potential driver negligence are underway, while district officials oversee the ongoing rescue efforts.
