New Delhi, July 29 (HS): The Supreme Court has extended Vikas Yadav's interim bail for four weeks to care for his sick mother post-surgery. The court directed him to seek a sentence reduction from the Delhi High Court. Initially granted on April 24, the bail requires him to stay at home in Ghaziabad and limits visits to Yashoda Hospital while prohibiting contact with witnesses.
Advocate Aparajita Singh highlighted Yadav's 98 visits to AIIMS for health issues during the hearing. The Supreme Court acknowledged his lengthy prison stay, having reduced his sentence to 25 years in 2016. Yadav, son of influential Uttar Pradesh leader D.P. Yadav, was convicted in the 2002 murder of Nitish Katara, who was in a relationship with his sister, Bharti.
