New Delhi, July 29 (H.S.): Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) conducted successful flight-tests of the Pralay missile on July 28 and 29, 2025, from Dr APJ Abdul Kalam island off Odisha's coast. These tests, part of User Evaluation Trials, aimed to validate the missile’s range capabilities. The missiles followed their intended trajectories, striking the target with high accuracy and meeting all objectives. All subsystems functioned as expected, verified through data from various tracking sensors at Integrated Test Range (ITR) and additional instruments on nearby ships.

Pralay is a solid propellant quasi-ballistic missile that features advanced guidance and navigation systems for enhanced precision, capable of carrying diverse warheads. It was developed by Research Centre Imarat in partnership with multiple DRDO labs and industry collaborators, including Bharat Dynamics Limited and Bharat Electronics Limited, among others.

The flight-tests were observed by senior DRDO scientists, Indian Air Force and Army representatives, and industry delegates. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh praised DRDO and the Armed Forces for the success, noting that this technology would strengthen military capabilities. Dr. Samir V Kamat, DRDO Chairman, emphasized that the successful phase-1 tests pave the way for the missile's induction into the Armed Forces soon.
