Delhi, 29 July (H.S.): The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Ather Energy Limited to boost India's clean mobility and advanced manufacturing sectors as part of the Build in Bharat initiative. This collaboration, backed by the Startup Policy Forum, focuses on strategic mentorship, infrastructure support for startups in the electric vehicle (EV) value chain, joint innovation programs, talent development initiatives, and events like Startup Mahakumbh.

The MoU was signed by Joint Secretary, DPIIT, Shri Sanjiv Singh, and Ather Energy’s Co-founder and CEO, Tarun Mehta. The initiative aims to enhance India's sustainable transportation while fostering a conducive environment for manufacturing-oriented startups. Shri Sanjiv Singh emphasized the transformative phase of India's electric mobility sector and the role of this partnership in nurturing startups' contributions to EV manufacturing and clean energy solutions. Tarun Mehta highlighted the collaborative effort to strengthen support systems for hardware and deep-tech startups, addressing technology challenges and scaling high-quality products.

Shweta Rajpal Kohli, President and CEO of the Startup Policy Forum, noted the significance of collaboration in unlocking the potential of India's manufacturing sector, essential for building a competitive innovation ecosystem. This partnership is anticipated to create new opportunities for startups in the EV and manufacturing sectors, aligning with India’s climate and industrial goals.
