Los Angeles, July 29(HS): In the first round of the Canadian Open, Eugenie Bouchard of Canada defeated Colombia's Emiliana Arango with a score of 6-4, 2-6, 6-2, delaying her retirement plans. Bouchard, the former World No. 5, previously declared this tournament as her career's final event but stated post-match, If I win this tournament, I won't retire. In the match, Bouchard began strong with a commanding forehand winner in the first set but faced challenges in the second due to unforced errors. She regained control in the final set, leading 4-1 before sealing her victory. The 31-year-old wildcard will play against 17th seed Belinda Bencic in the next round.
