Washington, July 27 (H.S.): In response to the ongoing border dispute between Thailand and Cambodia, U.S. President Donald Trump has issued a strong warning, urging both countries to cease hostilities immediately. Trump explicitly stated that if the two nations do not restore peace, the US will not enter into any trade agreements with them.
Trump posted on the social media platform 'Truth Social' that he had a “good conversation” with Thailand's acting Prime Minister and has now communicated with Cambodia's Prime Minister regarding stopping the war. He mentioned that after discussions with both countries, it seems that peace and prosperity are entirely possible. It remains to be seen what happens next.
Trump made it clear, We are discussing trade relations with both countries, but I have made it clear that if they continue the war, the U.S. will not trade with them. He further stated that he will call Thailand again soon, and further discussions with Cambodia will depend on Thailand's response.
In his statement, Trump also referenced the historical conflict between India and Pakistan. He said, This conflict reminds me of the old tension between India and Pakistan, which was successfully managed. Now, I am also trying to turn this regional war into peace.
