Noida,
27 July (HS): A five-year-old child was killed and two others injured after a
speeding BMW automobile slammed into a scooter in Noida's Sector 20, police
reported on Sunday.
The
incident occurred late Saturday night, soon as the girl departed the Post
Graduate Institute of Child Health in Sector 30. She was attending a rehab center with her
father and uncle. The girl was named as Ayaat, while the two injured were Gul
Mohammad and Raja.
Police
have detained two persons, the driver and the passenger, in connection with the
incident and booked them at Sector 20 Police Station on accusations of reckless
driving and death by carelessness. The two were identified as Yash Sharma, 22,
a resident of Noida's Sector 37, and Abhishek Rawat, 22, of Sector 70,
according to an officer.
Assistant
Police Commissioner Praveen Kumar Singh stated that the inquiry revealed that
the suspects were returning from a birthday celebration. They are being medically checked to see if
they were intoxicated at the time of the occurrence. The officer stated that
the car was found to be registered in the name of one Gagan. Yash Sharma, a
secondhand automobile dealer, borrowed it from Gagan about a week ago. The BMW
automobile with a Haryana registration number was impounded.
