27 July (HS): A case of love jihad and conversion after marriage came to light
on Sunday in Bijnor district of Uttar Pradesh. On the complaint of the victim
woman, the city police station has registered a case and arrested five accused.
City police station in-charge Uday Pratap Singh said that a woman had given a
complaint a few days ago that for the last 10 months she was working with her
husband in a clothes shop in Kiratpur. She often quarreled with her husband.
Taking advantage of this, shopkeeper Tariq became close to her. He got a room
on rent in Mandawar and started living with her. It is alleged that during this
time the shopkeeper had physical relations with her.
On
February 23, Tariq took her to Najibabad along with Adnan, Nasreen, Maharaj and
a woman named Asma. Here Tariq gave her intoxicating drugs and married her in
the presence of clerics. She was named Ayesha. After this, he took her to
Apollo Hospital in Delhi and a private hospital in Rishikesh and tried to sell
her kidney, but when she opposed, he brought her to Mandawar. Tariq had
threatened her that if she opens her mouth in front of anyone, she and her
child will be killed.
On
July 21, Tariq and his friends gave her drugs and beat her up. They tried to
kill her by giving her poison. Hurt by their harassment, the woman has filed a
case against Tariq and his friends in the city police station. The police
officer said that on the basis of the woman's complaint, the police have
arrested the accused Mohammad Tariq; Nasreen wife of Mohammad Tariq, Nadeem,
Ayan and Aman alias Suleman and further action is being taken.
