Chirang (Assam), 26 July (HS): Police have arrested a person smuggling wildlife organs in the Bijni area of Chirang district of Assam. This action was taken in Dalonjhar village number 4 of Panbari police station area.
The arrested accused has been identified as Kamal Mandal (40), a resident of the village. Police have recovered a large quantity of wildlife parts from him, including teeth of 3 tigers, 10 nails and 144 pieces of tiger bones. Apart from this, a motorcycle number AS-26 B-7603 and an Oppo mobile phone were also seized.
The police had received secret information, on the basis of which the operation was conducted and the smuggler was caught red-handed. At present, the accused has been brought to Panbari police station and is being questioned and further investigation is going on. ---------
