Golaghat (Assam), 26 July (HS): The 26th Kargil Vijay Diwas was commemorated in Khumtai, Golaghat district, along with the rest of the nation to mark India’s victory in the Kargil War. The celebrations took place at the Samadhi Sthal of local war hero Captain Jintu Gogoi.

Renowned writer Jaasingfa, along with his family, attended the event to pay homage. The day began with the hoisting of the national flag, followed by floral tributes at the martyr's grave site.

A large number of local residents, ex-servicemen and dignitaries gathered to pay their respects. Khumtai MLA Mrinal Saikia was also present at the ceremony and offered heartfelt tributes to the brave soldier who laid down his life for the country.
