Guwahati, 26 July (HS): Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya on Saturday inaugurated the two-day annual convention of Seemant Chetna Manch Purvottar (Assam State Unit) at the State Institute of Panchayat and Rural Development (SIPRD) in Kahikuchi, Guwahati.
Addressing the gathering, the Governor praised the organisation’s efforts in strengthening national unity in border areas, spreading awareness, and empowering communities. “This convention is a celebration of our collective consciousness, unity, and love for the motherland. The selfless service rendered by Seemant Chetna Manch is a living example of patriotism — not just in slogans but in duty, responsibility, and dedication,” he said.
He lauded the Manch’s work as a revival of the national consciousness once enriched by Srimanta Sankardev. He urged everyone to draw inspiration from the ideals of Srimanta Sankardev and Veer Lachit Borphukan to build a progressive India.
Highlighting the importance of staying connected to grassroots realities in the digital age, the Governor said, “The vigilant citizens of our border villages form the first line of defence for the nation. As our Prime Minister Narendra Modi rightly said — border villages are not the last, but the first villages of our nation.”
He also appreciated the organisation’s role in promoting academic initiatives, youth engagement, and active community participation in the service of the nation.
Among those present on the occasion were NEDFi Chairman and Managing Director PVSLN Murty, Seemant Jagran Manch’s National Convenor Ram Kumar, and Seemant Chetna Manch Purvottar members Dr. Pratima Neogi, Bablu Kumar Roy, Dr. Binita Bhagawati, and other dignitaries. ---------------
