Firozabad,
26 July (HS): A lady and her lover were detained in Firozabad on Saturday after
reportedly poisoning her husband to death, police said. According to Police
Superintendent Ravi Shankar Prasad, Sunil was reportedly killed on May 14. At
the time, his family thought he died naturally. However, a few days later, his
mother reported her daughter-in-law, Shashi, to Tundla Police Station for
suspicious behaviour. A case was opened and an investigation began.
During
the investigation, Sunil's wife, Shashi, was detained and questioned. Shashi admitted to poisoning her husband
Sunil's meals during intensive interrogation. She confessed that on May 13, she
gave him poison in his khichdi. As he recovered from therapy, she poisoned him
again on May 14, this time mixing it with his curd, resulting in his death,
according to Prasad.
Shashi
confessed that she was in a relationship with one Yadavendra, a resident of the
same village, and obtained the poison through him, he added. Police
seized a poison sachet as well as the dish used to deliver the poison. The
couple was caught and sentenced to prison.
