Hooghly, 26 July (H.S.): Four BJP workers were arrested by Chandannagar police around 2 a.m. on Friday night in connection with alleged vandalism during a deputation programme organized by the BJP at Chandannagar Municipal Corporation. The arrested individuals have been identified as Sachin Singh, Rambabu Sahu, Kiran Adhikari, and Anand Paswan, all residents of Chandannagar.
The arrested BJP workers were produced before the Chandannagar court on Saturday, where the court ordered their judicial custody until August 8.
The arrests have sparked anger among BJP workers and supporters. Suresh Shaw, General Secretary of Hooghly Organisational District BJP, accused the police of acting on political instructions and falsely implicating party workers. He added, If the police arrest four of our workers, forty more are ready to come forward and protest. Such tactics will not intimidate BJP workers.
