New Delhi, July 24 (H.S.): The central government has appointed Ajay Seth as the Chairman of the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) for three years. This position was vacant since March 2025 following Debashish Panda's resignation. The Cabinet Appointment Committee approved his appointment, which is effective until he turns 65 or until further orders. Seth was previously given the additional charge of Revenue Secretary in March when Tuhin Kanta Pandey became SEBI Chairman.

An IAS officer of the 1987 batch from Karnataka, Seth retired from the Secretary of Economic Affairs role in June after four years. He has been instrumental in policy-making related to economic development, fiscal management, infrastructure financing, and digital payments.
