Guwahati, 22 July (HS): Students staged a massive protest in IIT Guwahati regarding the increase in admission fees of BTech, MTech and PhD courses and other demands.

The students say that the admission fee hike has been increased suddenly, due to which all the students are extremely upset and worried. The facilities that should be available in the name of hostel facilities and other services are not actually available.

The main demands of the students are

The fees should be re-fixed at the old rate. When hostel rent is being taken from the PhD students living in the hostel, they are not being given HRA (House Rent Allowance). In such a situation, any kind of fee hike is not justified.

Today, the students staged a massive protest in front of the administrative building throughout the day regarding the above demands. But till now there has been no response from the administration on this serious issue, nor has any concrete step been taken towards the solution.

Regarding the demands of the students, many student organizations have said that the anger of the students is completely justified and the administration should show sensitivity towards this issue and take concrete action towards a quick solution.
