Raiganj, 22 July (H.S.) A bus returning from the 21st July rally met with a serious accident near Durgapur area of Itahar on National Highway late Monday night. At least 17 people were injured in the incident, with three reported to be in critical condition.

According to Raiganj Police sources, all the injured passengers were immediately taken to Raiganj Medical College and Hospital. While most of them are currently stable, three of them are undergoing treatment in critical condition.

Initial reports from police and local witnesses suggest that the accident occurred around 2 a.m.when the bus, going towards Raiganj, tried to overtake a lorry. During the maneuver, a part of the lorry collided with the left side of the bus.

The police have launched an investigation into the matter.
