New Delhi, July 21(HS): On the first day of the monsoon session, the Lok Sabha faced adjournments due to opposition demands to discuss ‘Operation Sindoor’. Initially adjourned until 12 PM, it was later pushed to 2 PM as the uproar continued.
Deputy Leader of the House and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh assured the opposition of the government's willingness to discuss any issue as per the Speaker's timeline. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju indicated that an agenda would be set during the Business Advisory Committee meeting later that day, implying that the opposition's disruption was inappropriate.
The session started with tributes to deceased members, but chaos erupted during the question hour as the opposition insisted on discussing 'Operation Sindoor'. Despite repeated appeals from the Speaker for calm and to proceed with the question hour, the House remained noisy, leading to further adjournments as the opposition refused to relent.
