Howrah, 21 July (H.S.) A vehicle carrying Trinamool Congress supporters the Shahid Diwas rally in Kolkata met with an accident on July 21 in the Hawakhana area under Jagatballavpur police station in Howrah district. The vehicle collided with a speeding bus, causing several people sitting on the roof to fall off and suffer serious injuries.
According to local sources, around 30-35 TMC workers from Balipur in Khanakul of Hooghly district, were travelling in the vehicle to attend the rally at Dharmatala. While passing through the Hawakhana area of Jagatballavpur, the driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle rammed into a bus in front.
Three individuals were seriously injured in the accident. Local residents rushed the injured to Jagatballavpur Rural Hospital. One of the victims, reported to be in critical condition, was referred to Kolkata Medical College Hospital.
On information, the police from Jagatballavpur police station arrived at the scene and have launched an investigation into the incident.
