Mumbai, 21 July (HS): Senior lawyer and MP Adv Ujwal
Nikam termed Bombay High Court’s verdict to release 12 accused in Mumbai’s
serial blasts, as shocking.
The serial blasts on July 11, 2006, killed more than
200 people. Nikam said, “I have not fought the case, but fee pained to hear the
court’s verdict releasing the accused in the case, after 19 years. The Sessions
Court had punished the accused based on the evidence, which the High Court called
inadequate to prove them guilty”. Nikam opined that immediate appeal at the
Supreme Court is necessary in the case.
