Cachar (Assam), 21 July (HS): Based on a reliable information related to smuggling of suspected gold biscuits, a team of Cachar district headquarters town Silchar Police Station conducted an operation last night. The police team conducted the operation near Ramnagar bypass and recovered three pieces of suspected gold biscuits weighing about 439 grams. The value of which is said to be more than ₹45 lakh.
District Police Supritendent Nomal Mahatta said on Monday that Khamneu Munlua (32), the resident of Churachandpur district of Manipur, was arrested with the suspected gold biscuits. The police seized the gold biscuits in the presence of independent witnesses on the spot. It is reported that the suspected gold biscuits were brought from Manipur and were to be delivered somewhere near ISBT, Silchar. Further legal action has been initiated.
