New Delhi, July 21(HS): On the first day of the monsoon session of Parliament, a heated debate occurred between the opposition and the government over Operation Sindoor and Trump’s ceasefire claims, prompting an uproar and subsequent adjournment of the House. Opposition leader Rahul Gandhi claimed the government is stifling opposition voices.

While Addressing to Media, he emphasized that only government ministers are permitted to speak, while opposition leaders are not given the chance to express their views. Gandhi asserted, I am the leader of the opposition; it is my constitutional right to speak in the House, but I am not being allowed to do so. This new strategy violates the essence of democracy.

He pointed out that traditional parliamentary practices dictate that if government leaders can address the House, opposition members should be granted the same opportunity. Gandhi lamented, We just wanted to say two words, but the opposition is not granted permission for that.

Regarding Prime Minister Modi's characterization of the session as a Vijay Utsav, Gandhi noted that Modi left the House quickly. He reiterated that a genuine discussion can only happen if the opposition is allowed to participate, emphasizing that the right to speak in Parliament should be equally accessible to all sides.
