Kolkata, 21 July (H.S.) –

Four accused in the high-profile murder of gangster Chandan Mishra at Patna’s Paras Hospital were hiding in a guest house in Kolkata’s Anandapur area, booked by a local woman identified as Alpana Das. The property, named ‘Green Edge Regency’, became the target of a joint operation conducted by the Special Task Forces of Bihar and West Bengal Police, resulting in the arrest of five individuals.

According to police sources, Alpana Das had unknowingly booked the room for the accused. Her connection to one of the key accused, Yusuf Khan alias Nisu, reportedly developed through social media. Nisu is believed to have misled Alpana by claiming that he was coming to Kolkata for the medical treatment of a relative and needed a place to stay.

On the day of the operation, ten individuals were detained from different parts of the city for questioning. Alpana was later released after initial interrogation, though police say she and the others remain under observation.

Those arrested include prime accused Tausif, his cousin Yusuf Khan alias Nisu, a caretaker named Bheem Kumar, and a male nurse identified as Harsh Kumar.

Investigations have revealed that after executing the murder, the accused fled Patna, leaving behind their weapons. They travelled to Kolkata carrying forged medical documents related to Nisu’s alleged treatment, presumably to avoid police scrutiny by posing as patients during travel.

Sources further revealed that the group first tried to contact Tausif’s friend Ahsan, who resides in the Sukhabrishti Housing Complex in New Town, but failed to establish contact. After being unable to find a safe location in the Park Street area as well, they eventually settled in the guest house in Anandapur.

The police continue to interrogate the arrested individuals to uncover more details of the conspiracy and their possible links in both states.
