Murshidabad, 21 July (H.S.): Another case of illegal infiltration from Bangladesh has come to light in West Bengal’s Murshidabad district. This time, a total of eight Bangladeshi nationals have been arrested for unlawfully entering India. Along with them, three Indian agents who allegedly aided their entry have also been taken into custody.
Based on a tip-off, the police raided the residence of Jamirul Sheikh in Lalgola area and arrested Bangladeshi nationals. The arrested individuals have been identified as Sakirul Islam, Mohammad Sirajul, Mohammad Shamsul, Shakil Sheikh and Sanjit Karmakar. All five are residents of Chapai Nawabganj district in Bangladesh.
Two Indian nationals, Jamirul Sheikh and Tofazzal Sheikh, have also been arrested for allegedly providing shelter to the infiltrators.
In a separate operation, the police from Raninagar police station conducted a raid in Degree area on Monday and arrested three more Bangladeshi nationals. The arrested individuals are Tariqul Islam, Abdul Rahman and Mohammad Saheb Ali. These three hail from Godagari area in Rajshahi district, Bangladesh.
The police have also arrested Saddam Hussain, a resident of the Raninagar police station area, for allegedly assisting the infiltrators.
All the accused have been charged under the Foreigners Act, and the police will seek seven days of police remand by presenting them before the court.
